woohoo!
Have you ever had your doubts about something but dove in anyway? For me, this was (on a MUCH different level) like when you're completely terrified of giving birth, and you do it. And then you feel like you can accomplish anything. (okay I didn't HAVE to make the pillow.) There is nothing quite like completing something successfully you were terrified of in the first place. Behold...the GUMDROP PILLOW!!!! {Eat it, Pottery Barn.}
I only had a few moments where I wanted to stab myself in the eyeballs as I was removing triple reinforced seams simply because I couldn't figure out the inside out thingy and had to have a redo because I didn't double check. But I cut the fabric on Friday and was finished by Saturday, with ample breaks in between: movies, playing with kids, a birthday party...it was totally doeable. I now officially dub myself a seamstress. (of sorts.) I think Amy needs to come over and induct me into the sisterhood.
The kids LOVE it and its the perfect height as an ottoman accessory for my puff chair. It was totally worth all the work. I read some reviews that mentioned they would recommend putting in a zipper for the last step of stuffing the pillow. Then all you have to do is zip it up. I highly recommend that, as I will be making more, and think that will be the easier route to take next time, rather than hand stitching that last bit. Just thought I would include this in case anyone is interested.
Oh, and Jesse, the cute pic of the kid on top of the pillow is just for you. Not sure where she came from. Just kinda wandered in and now we can't get rid of her since my pillow is so comfy.
Hurray!

I absolutely have to make one of these now! How awesome are you????
I can't remember where you saw these ottomans. Did you get the pattern from a book?
hey Kate-ordered the pattern online: eBay ... I'll send you the link if you want!! It was actually supa fast ;) DO IT
It is GREAT! Love it!
P.S. What did you stuff it with? Down (sp?) or something else?
ha. IT TOOK SEVEN BAGS of those polyfill things. SEVEN. Aiden was building forts with them, (of course) so I had to stuff the thing when he went down for his nap. I have pics of him building a fort and Emerson stealing pieces of it just to make him mad. I think I'm coming in right behind you on the comments section, btw. Promise I wasn't stalking you.
Very good! I am so proud of you! It looks great!
Yes, please. I would love the link!
Kate-this should take you to it. It's Emerald City Fabric and Craft. For once someone who's efficient on Ebay.

Oh my gosh!!! I was just thinking the other day that I need an ottoman for my puff chair! I think I should practice sewing a little more before tackling something of this magnitude though. :-) It looks GREAT!! And I love the fabric. Of course. :-)
Hooray for the baby! (And super awesome puff chair--I will come pick mine up soon, please.)
I LOVE this!!!!!! So precious! Great job!
