I'm Tired.
FINALLY I've felt well enough to post pictures of my new little studio space. No House Beautiful redo here. Simply something done within our means financially (aka paint and fabric and a few baskets). Perhaps I can be presumptuous enough to think I may inspire you by sharing some of my simple, affordable ideas. Otherwise, make fun of me for all I care. I'm quite proud, regardless. ;)
It was kind of a lot of work, in between revamps, redos, organizing and overhauls of my previous "system" I had. I now have everything at my fingertips I could need in one place! Talk about a time saver...when not on my (archaic) mac or laptop, I will be out in the kitchen or dining room where there is plenty of space to work on various pieces, whether it be sewing or painting. It's not my dream studio or anything, but I'm grateful and it works for me right now, and is expandable, at that. It's just nice to have everything in one place. Now if I could only find stuff since everything has been moved...{sigh}

Here's an overhead view: Yes, I did climb atop the washer and dryer to get a click of my little space. When we found this home, we were lucky enough to have a laundry room with finished cabinets which was major for my plethora of supplies. No new work has been done here, other than the 19 dollar chair, as seen previously, and an old ikea table I had previously painted brown and blue. One botched mod podge accident later, and a happy accident had occured...a fun vintage roughed up look with colors blended together as they had been sanded down. Not what I was going for but I'm flexible. The curtains just happened to fit the little window, from Aiden's previous nursery. I put it flush to the ceiling, even though the window is tiny to make the wall, and subsequently room, seem larger.
A spool of tweed makes a great little nest for a "mobile reject" who has now become my little mascot.
I've been subscribing to Communication Arts since 1999. That makes for a LOT of publications...now easily filed away and IN ORDER at my fingertips. The bulletin board? A ceiling tile from Home Depot for 3.75, covered with two sets of fabric (the brown burlap I had left over from a curtains project) and the green a Joel Dewberry (sewn on the edges and then added to the middle) for a green punch to tie in the continued green/brown theme. This is such an easy project if you need to a cheap bulletin board. I highly recommend it. I hung it with a ribbon, nail, and the top of a thumbtack with matching dewberry fabric for a detailed touch.

Eye candy for my windows: I'm kind of obsessed with bell jars, so I organized beadery by color and placed them in my window sill. Yes, that was one entire night of olympic watching while Emerson screamed because I wasn't holding her. The afternoon sun shines down in the afternoons, for a fun shimmery effect.
I used a couple of Tiffany and Co. blue boxes to help hold supplies and carry the blue theme through to the countertops, that you can find glimpses of in the fabric on the chair, and desk. This icon is one of my fave things and colors. Oh the much coveted Tiffany box! Be still my heart. Silly but oh so true. Its the simple things...and if anyone has any extras lying around I'm totally here. Forget the jewelry. Give me that box! Side note: Jesse, do you see anything familiar here, if you are reading? I still use that photo album, but I put snippets of ideas away in it. I love that print, and wish I had it on a huge thing of fabric for Emerson's big girl room!
Fabric scraps at my fingertips...another fun way to carry color through to other areas.
A deep sink perfect for laundry or dirty paint brushes is covered with a matching green piece when not in use. Bonus: extra counter space.
Aiden gives his grin of approval...Its nice to have a space of my own!
