Revamp with RSV

Needless to say, it's been a rough fall/winter season thus far. Only a few short weeks ago, the entire family was sick with the stomach bug, and by sick, I mean SICK. Except yours truly. I was left to clean up the carnage. And by carnage, I mean use your imagination. Sometimes I feel as though I am permanently covered in food remnants, bodily secretions, and due to my own issues, paint.
I took the babes to the doctor's office yesterday, and found out, much to my dismay, that we have two cases of RSV on our hands, and an ear infection for Aiden. Here's the kicker. Jamin came home from his fall retreat, sick as well. And by sick, I mean death bed=couch. No need to complain, I lovingly reminded myself, putting away the well sharpened hatchet as I truly wanted to kill him for becoming my third child, again, because he ran through the woods like a sixteen year old in freezing weather all weekend...{YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ON MY SIDE!}
At least we're not John and Kate plus eight...right??? Needless to say, I need to work on being a bit more empathetic in the wifery department. GAH Jamin. I Love you and I'm glad you are feeling better today (in case you read this.) I guess I just want to know if I'm normal for feeling a bit, errr, resentful? I have no right to complain. I have the best husband I could ever ask for. A true gift from God. Despite the fact I like to growl at him every now and again...GRRRR. Sigh. Bless him. Doesn't "bless him" always make it better?
Who am I kidding. I'm a disrespectful ingrate.
So, while nap time ensues, rather than catching some snooze time myself, I am blogging ever so selfishly. I guess you could term this upcycled? Technically not? Who really cares? Here's the piece I scored, along with before and after pics! I wish I'd taken photos of the drawers, as you all would have died. Right in front of your computer screens. Nasty mildew much?
Warning: I do realize there are some wood finish purists out there, (my mom) so please be forewarned I did not finish this in a "traditional" way. These wood lovers tend to be a bit PETA-esque, so please know that this buffet will be well loved in the years to come, and all because I painted it. I'm kind of addicted, ever since I completed the piece for my "studio." Junk=original furniture=I'm going to the salvation army later this week for more.
Without further ado, here is my 125 dollar find:
Call me crazy, but you can find pieces like this at Anthropologie for 1300...seems kinda hefty when you can do your part to "help the environment..."
Aiden is currently obsessed with the Christmas catalogs. "I want that I want that I want that..." He was an absolute angel at the doctor's office, as I brought a fresh batch of the latest kiddie-trap mailouts to keep him occupied.
Just some pics that made me happy from this weekend at my parent's house.
Have a good tuesday!

The piece looks GREAT! I love the two-toned.
I like paint finishes better than wood. There. I said it!
I'm sorry that your crew is sick! I really hope that you will not have to deal with this all season long!
Your piece looks awesome!
Love the pictures of the kids!
Love the redo on the furniture. I love to recycle but my problem is I seem to never finish and Greg ends up doing it for me. He has implemented a "no project" policy since early 2006. Bast.
Get well soon Mills' household!!!
That piece is incredible! And I can't believe you got it for only $125. Jealous. :-)
I hope your babies get better soon!
Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. So sorry! And if you think YOU are an ungrateful ingrate, you should have seen me this entire summer while Michael was laid up with a broken ankle!!! Your artsy/crafty abilities move me to nausea.
Don't feel bad for not wanting your oldest child to be your biggest baby! One time when I caught a family virus last, Bert had the nerve to say, "I'm just glad you didn't get this as bad as I did." WHAT? How about, as a Mother, we don't have the time to lay around, even though we do have it just as bad! Don't get me started! Hang in there. Hope everyone is already much better.
That is gorgeous!
Hope the Mills are feeling better soon!
I am so drooling over that furniture. =)
Thank you for throwing your talents in my uncreative face yet again Supa! Jealousy abounds!!
I think Jamin should give you one foot massage (or once chore around the house, etc.) for each hour he was on the couch. That ought to cure him!
Yes the furniture looks great! AND exactly how I pictured it! Which as you know never happens, perhaps I'm finally cluing into your taste and phone descriptions.
